Access Control and Door Entry

Access control

Access control enables you to control who has access to your building.

Locks and keys also allow you to secure your building, but when keys are lost or stolen, the inconvenience and expense of changing locks and re-issuing keys can be considerable. Keys may also be copied, creating more security risks

Door Entry

The complete door entry solution

Door entry is a secure audible/visual solution which allows you to recognise access at any number of entrances your building may have. Our Entry system solutions can be implemented using conventional 5-wire technology, 2-wire door entry systems and/or employ innovative IP technology.

Why do I need Access Control?

Access control offers a secure, convenient, flexible and cost-effective way of controlling who has access to your building and when that access is allowed.

All businesses have to protect assets and employees whilst allowing people to move freely in the areas that they need. It is common in buildings that are secured by locks and keys for doors to be left unlocked all day. This opens up the possibility of opportunist theft and malicious damage.

Installing an access control system means that you will never have to change a lock again. Tokens are issued to allow access through the controlled doors and are easily barred from the system if they are lost or stolen.

How does Access Control work?

Once an access control system is installed, all doors controlled by the system will automatically lock when the door is closed. Anyone without a PIN or access token is unable to enter. If necessary, doors can be set to unlock during a designated time frame.

Access control also offers flexible control over users’ access rights. For example, all staff can gain access through the main door of a building, but access to internal areas may be restricted to those who have a specific need to be there. Access may also be restricted by time, only granting access to particular users at certain times of day or night.

Which Access Control system is right for you?

Net2 - Networked Access Control

Networked access control offers centralised control of your building from a PC. This means that comands given at the PC are sent to each of the doors instantly, such as opening doors, barring tokens and building lockdown. Other benefits of this type of system are flexible control, allowing different permissions for individuals or groups of user.

Great for sites managing multiple doors and users. The system can be extended easily and offers advanced features such as event reporting, energy saving and integration with CCTV and other systems.

Typical Applications Include:

  • Schools
  • Offices
  • Healthcare facilities

Standalone - Offline Access Control

This type of system may be used to control access on one or many independent doors in a building. Access is gained by using a PIN or electronic token, and there is no need for a PC or network. Unlike a networked system, a standalone system is programmed at each door. If tokens need to be barred or codes changed, this action must be completed at every door on the system.

Great for smaller sites with a relatively small number of users. Token management is simple and the system can be extended easily as your requirements change.

Typical Applications Include:

  • Small business premises
  • Storage units
  • Sites with limited users

Paxton10 - Web-based Access Control

Access control with a web-based user interface means that a system administrator can access to the software remotely, from anywhere with an internet connection. This system supports all the functionality of a networked system, with no network required. A benefit of this system is combined surveillance and video management from one unified platform. Paxton10 also supports free of charge Bluetooth smart credentials and a range of RFID token technologies.

Great for sites that require camera and access management from a single system. Paxton10 supports up to 1000 cameras and 1000 doors.

Typical Applications Include:
(Where video is also a requirement)

  • Schools
  • Offices
  • Healthcare facilities

TRADITIONAL 5-WIRE DOOR ENTRY SYSTEM

A TRADITIONAL SOLUTION YOU CAN DEPEND ON

The systems for traditional systems use 5 wires for the connection between the external unit and the internal units in the single-family version of the door entry system, and 6 wires in the two-family version.

Not Sure?

Entry comprises three simple components; external panel, door control unit and internal monitor handset. On approaching your building, visitors call via the bell button on the external panel. Once you have recognised the caller via either the audio or full colour video, smart audio/video monitor, you can grant or deny access.
